How do we design Boat the holds true to the heritage of a historic brand? How do we still make it relevant and make it work for our modern customer? These were the big questions we asked ourselves as we developed this boat. The result is an award-winning product and one of the best selling products in the Boston Whaler portfolio. Integrated fuel tank, forward fish locker, additional storage, and the classic look of the timeless Montauk all come together the make this a special project for the design team.
I was in charge of the research and early development of the design. Research on this project was fun. We traveled to various parts of the US to learn how customers use thier boats. We took the knowledge we gained from these one-on-one interviews and sketched ideas for what would become the next generation of Boston Whaler Montauk.
